Victoria Development Director Retires
Jared Mayfield, Victoria Director of Development Services ,will retire on January 31st to become the Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of Murphy, Texas.
Mayfield starts his new position on February 13th.
Mayfield worked for the City of Victoria for almost 20 years including the last five years as Director of Development Services. His service to the City of Victoria includes assignments as Deputy Director of Development Services, Planning Manager, Planner and Senior Planner. Mayfield also briefly served as Assistant Director of Planning for the City of Abilene and Urban Planner in the City of Galveston. Mayfield is certified by the American Institute of Planners and is a member of the American Planning Association.
“The City is sorry to lose a director with Jared’s vast experience and devotion to Victoria,” said Charmelle Garrett, Victoria City Manager. “Jared guided us through the most recent comprehensive plan, has managed the Code Enforcement and GIS divisions very well, and was instrumental with recruiting retail businesses to Victoria.”
Mayfield earned a bachelor of Environmental Design in 1994 and a master of Urban Planning in 1996, both from Texas A&M University. He is the past president of the Golden Crescent Habitat for Humanity, and was active in the Keep Victoria Beautiful program, the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Victoria, Victoria Main Street Program and Victoria Preservation, Inc.
