Victoria County United Way Thanks Contributors with Reception

Victoria United Way held a reception at the Welder Center on Thursday evening.

At the June 29th Recognition Reception for the 2016-2017 Campaign, the Victoria County United Way thanked the many caring contributors that help people in need throughout our region and recognized 12 companies for their leadership and strong volunteerism.

More than $919,000 was raised. “The many volunteers working on the campaign did an outstanding job”, said David Edwards,Campaign Chairman and Business Banking Manager, Wells Fargo. “These contributions will allow children to learn in safe environments, provide meals for seniors, and support those in desperate situations working to rebuild their lives”, he added.

Participants were moved by stories from three people directly helped by United Way contributions to Mid-Coast Family Services, Boys & Girls Club of Victoria and the Senior Citizens Center.

Dale Jones, outgoing President, and Executive Vice President at klean corp international, noted there were many individuals that worked on the United Way’s Days of Caring projects throughout the year.

“From laying carpet at the YMCA, to painting the Senior Citizens Center to installing floors at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Victoria and in Cuero, individuals make the difference”.
