Victoria County sets up phone hotline for COVID-19 updates

VICTORIA, Texas-  County Judge Ben Zeller along with city leaders are meeting daily to post updates as they plan a response to COVID-19. Monday morning they announced easier access to crucial information.

The Victoria county commissioners court was briefed on the work leaders are performing. The county has now made a hotline number for people to call in with any questions on how local health officials are dealing with COVID-19. This is made accessible for those who may not have internet readily available.

The number is 361-580-5796.  A qualified person will answer the call.

 “One of our efforts we also undertook over the weekend was establishing a hotline for members of the community to call in with any questions of what’s going on locally, relating to what’s going on with COVID-19,” explains county judge Ben Zeller.

At this time, Victoria county is strictly following CDC guidelines and have made those changes accordingly. 

As of today, the CDC recommends no gatherings of 10 or more people. The county will enforce that. 

Judge Zeller adds the county will continue to conduct daily 3 p.m. updates until further notice.
