VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria County Public Health Department received a report Tuesday that confirmed a COVID-19 patient from Victoria County died due to COVID-19.

The late patient is identified as 88-year-old Clarence Atzenhoffer Junior, also known as “Bubba.”

His daughter, Jeannine Atzenhoffer confirmed that her beloved father died at the Houston Methodist Medical Center.

Jeannine said her father had contracted the virus at the Houston Methodist Skilled Nursing Facility, which is a separate facility.

“He refused the ventilator and died good Friday [in the] the AM, his care was exceptional there, although — no one was allowed to be with him,” said Jeannine via email.

Jeannine said her father was a lifelong Victorian resident and was the Commander of the Korean War Vets Local Chapter.
