Victoria County Commissioners Court discusses the American Rescue plan

Victoria County is expected to receive $18 million in federal aid

VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria County Commissioners met today to discuss the expected $18 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan, the latest stimulus package passed by Congress.

Roughly, $15 million is expected to go to the City of Victoria. Victoria County Commissioners are still waiting for official guidance from the United States Treasury in terms of eligible uses of the grant.
Earlier today, Victoria County Judge, Ben Zeller, spoke about how he would like to use the money if he received it today.
“I would like to see it be able to be used for public safety, public health, and to be able for us to continue providing county services,” said Zeller.
County Commissioners will have three years to use the grant so commissioners are in no rush to make sure the funding is spent appropriately for the City of Victoria
Until then, County Commissioners will continue to discuss parameters on how to use the money.
