Victoria County Commissioners approve burn ban
VICTORIA, Texas — Victoria County Commissioners implemented a burn ban Monday morning.
Fire Marshal Richard Castillo says the county is in fire danger due to drought conditions.
For now, no outside burning is permitted unless it’s inside a barrel with a mesh top. Make sure the area around the barrel is clear and 12 to 18 inches away from debris.
“It is punishable by a $600 fine, and we will be writing citations, because we normally try early to get this on, but we were trying to hold out for the rain. Now we are in an extreme hazard for fire danger,” tells Fire Marshal Richard Castillo.
Fire Marshal Castillo wants to stress no burning of brush on the ground. You can take brush to county dump sites.
