Victoria Community Action Committee opens new kitchen

A local organization held a grand opening for their new kitchen this afternoon.

For more than 50 years, the Community Action Committee has been feeding Crossroads residents through the meals on wheels program.

The committee was able to get funding to build a kitchen to continue serving 267 elderly, disabled home-bound people.

For the past seven years, the committee used a kitchen at the Victoria Regional Airport.

“Well its exciting, the Victoria Airport was very kind to us and allowed us to be in that kitchen, and they helped make it work but it is exciting to have the kitchen right here in our own building with all new appliances and working with the people here locally to get these meals delivered,” Executive Director, Vicki Smith

said.

The new kitchen is located on Halsey Street.
