Victoria College Volleyball Preps For First NJCAA Game 8-21
Pirates To Host WCJC Thursday Night
Victoria, Texas —
Victoria college volleyball, getting close to making history.
The Pirates, getting ready for their first ever National Junior College Athletic Association volleyball game. 12 players are on the team. The co-captains, Hope Trevino and Gabby Weido, are the two players returning from the Pirates team that won their last club league championship back in the spring. Victoria College played in that club league for 15 seasons, but now they are in the NJCAA. Area players on the Pirate volleyball team include Kiki Miller from Shiner and Nicole Ressman from Ganado. The co-captains told me how excited the team is for this historic game.
Said Trevino, “I’m excited. I’m also nervous because it is our first game. Wharton is a conference team that we do have. Tomorrow will display what the rest of the season will look like for us and I hope that we do really well, which I know that we will, and we’ll try our best. That’s all I’m asking for. “
Said Weido, “Most of us don’t show it but some of the girls will be a little nervous because it’s their first year. Last year there were a lot of returners. Not many of us freshmen really played. But this year it’s basically a freshman team and our first game’s a conference game. I just hope they play like I know they can. “
Victoria College volleyball’s first-ever NJCAA game will be at the VC Cportscenter Thursday night at 6:00 against Wharton County Junior College.
