Victoria College signs Pasadena Memorial’s Garcia
VICTORIA, Texas — The Victoria College Pirates have added the final player to their inaugural National Junior College Athletic Association roster with the signing of Pasadena Memorial outside hitter Pilar Garcia.
The 5-foot-8 Garcia was a first-team All-District 22-6A selection last season after recording a team-high 309 kills and 2.7 kills per set. Garcia, who was also an all-district academic selection, posted 30 service aces, 24 blocks and 282 digs during the 2018 season.
“What excites me most about coming to Victoria College is being able to further my athletic career and play the sport I love, while also getting to meet new people and build new relationships,” Garcia said.
The Pirates will enter the 2019 season with 12 players on their roster. Victoria College will make its NJCAA debut at home on Aug. 22 against Wharton County Junior College at VC’s Sports Center.
“I feel so privileged to be a part of the first NJCAA program at Victoria College,” Garcia said. “I can’t wait for our team to make a huge statement in the Region 14 conference.”
