Remembering Mayor Rawley McCoy

VICTORIA, Texas- City Manager Jesús Garza release a statement on the passing of Mayor Rawley McCoy.

“I’m deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mayor McCoy yesterday evening. Having worked closely with him, I saw firsthand how Mayor McCoy was a true leader who steadfastly devoted his time and efforts to putting our community first. On behalf of the City of Victoria, I wish to extend my profound sympathies to Mayor McCoy’s family, his fellow council members who served alongside him, and the entire Victoria community,” the statement read.

Garza continued about the next steps next week.

“I know there must be many questions surrounding what this means for the city. We will address next steps with City Council soon, but for now, the City Charter states that the Mayor Pro-Tem, Josephine Soliz, will act as Mayor. This transition ensures the continuity of our City Council, and our city manager form of government ensures that daily operations will carry on without interruption,” the release said.
