Victoria City Council approves the first of four master plans
The remaining three masterplans will be presented in October
VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria City Council members unanimously approved the first of four master plans.
The Thoroughfare Master Plan is a list of construction projects that will guide the development of Victoria’s roadway system
Some goals of the master plan include maintaining and repairing existing infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion and increase route options.
This master plan comes after research shows an opportunity to improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities, safety concerns along North Navarro and a priority of connecting north and south areas of Victoria.
“The Thoroughfare Master Plan is an important long-range planning document used to guide the development of the City’s transportation network. The plan is a complete analysis of existing roadway conditions, future development patterns, projected travel needs and system performance, existing policy and best practices, and community goals. The Thoroughfare Master Plan helps to ensure that the transportation network meets the travel needs for citizens and proposes a network of roadways intended to meet the long-term needs of Victoria as it grows and changes over time.” -says Planning & Development Services Director, Julie Fulgham.
The remaining three master plans are the Downtown master plan, Drainage master plan, and Parks master plan. These will be presented to the City Council in October.
