VFD swears in new employees, announces promotions

VICTORIA, Texas – On Friday, Nov. 5, the Victoria Fire Department held a ceremony at the Community Center annex. During the ceremony, the new firefighter and EMTs were sworn in. They will now begin a six-month probationary period, during which they will work and operate as VFD employees. They will also receive additional hands-on training during this time.

During the ceremony, Rebekah Thompson and Hannah Frank were promoted to the role of paramedic. Trevor Montgomery and Joel Aguirre were also promoted to the role of engineer. Paramedics are responsible for providing emergency medical services. They also hold the highest-level EMS rank within the fire department. Engineers are responsible for driving fire engine and operating equipment at the scene of a fire.
