VFD responds to chlorine leak
VICTORIA, Texas — The Victoria Fire Department responded to a chlorine leak at approximately 6 p.m. on April 16 at the City of Victoria Surface Water Treatment Plant in Riverside Park.
Two City of Victoria employees were transported to a local hospital out of an abundance of caution for evaluation. The chlorine leak was contained to a building and did not threaten anyone outside of the Surface Water Treatment Plant campus.
The Victoria Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team entered the building to secure the leak and monitor the atmosphere surrounding the leak site. Victoria’s Police Department has traffic through the park blocked at this time. The fire department is on the scene working to restore the plant back to full operations.
