Very dry, windy conditions to increase wildfire potential across the area
Texas A&M Forest Service to stage in Victoria for the next couple of weeks
VICTORIA, Texas – Due to the current and expected elevated fire weather conditions in the area, Texas A&M Forest Service has staged heavy equipment with crews and overhead personnel to better assist local fire departments. By staging the Type 5 Dozer, TAMFS is able to have faster and more efficient responses to wildfires occurring near the area.
In recent weeks, local fire departments have seen an increase in wildfire activity. On Thursday, the area may experience very dry and windy conditions. These conditions will increase wildfire potential across the region. Many areas may also be under Fire Weather Watches and Red Flag Warnings.
The Texas A&M Forest Service will remain staging in Victoria for the next couple of weeks.
