VC Signs Los Fresnos Volleyball Star

Leal Joins Former H.S. Teammate With Pirates

Victoria College adds its latest volleyball player for next season.

Victoria College added the seventh player to its inaugural National Junior College Athletic Association team Friday by signing Los Fresnos setter/defensive specialist Natalie Leal.

Leal was an honorable mention selection in District 31-6A her senior year in 2017. She was signed after participating in Victoria College’s open tryout, and will join former Les Fresnos teammate Hope Trevino on the Pirates’ roster.

“I took a break from volleyball after I graduated from high school, but then realized I wanted to pursue my dream of playing at the college level,” Leal said. “It feels very good to have my best friend beside me again.”

The Pirates will make their NJCAA debut at home on Aug. 22 against Wharton County Junior College.

“I am excited to see what this school is all about,” said Leal, who is pursuing a nursing career. “I want to take my academics to another level as well.”
