VC Professor/Author donates book proceeds to Hispanic Students

A Victoria College Professor held a book signing this afternoon for her new book called “Our Vidas, Our Historias: Hispanic Voices From The Crossroads.”

The book is based on a Hispanic oral history project that Dr. Karen Hagan began working on in 2010 with four VC Phi Theta Kappa honors students.

In 2016, the project won the Mary Faye Barnes Award for Excellence for Community History Projects, awarded by The Texas Oral History Association.

Students and staff attended the event to speak with Dr. Hagan.

“We learned incredibly moving and interesting and wonderful things about these people who were willing to talk to us and share their lives with us. So, I’m hoping if you read this book you’ll come away with a sense of who your neighbors are who the people standing the grocery store might be a little bit of who we are in relationship to each other,” said Author Dr. Karen Hagan.

All proceeds from her book go to assist Hispanic students at Victoria College.
