VC Girls H.S. All-Star Basketball Players Named

Three West Warriors Get Picked

The names have been announced for a major local high school basketball game.

Three members of Victoria West’s team that reached the Class 5A Region IV tournament will be among 20 seniors from the Crossroads region participating in the 10 th Annual Victoria College Chick-fil-A All-Star Girls Basketball Game on Wednesday, April 10 at VC’s Sports Center.

West’s 5-foot-8 guard Carrie Barrera-Lacy, who was named the District 30-5A Most Valuable Player and was a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 5A all-state selection, will join teammates Kennedy Youngblood and Taizhae Grant in the game, which will tip off at 6 p.m. Youngblood, a 5-10 center, was District 30-5A’s Offensive Player of the Year and a TABC Class 5A All-Region IV team selection. Grant, a 5-7 point guard, was a second-team All-District 30-5A choice.

Victoria East will have two players participating in the game – 5-4 guard Susie Hernandez, who earned honorable mention on the All-District 30-5A team, and 5-6 forward Madison Ussrey.

Also participating in the game will be Calhoun’s Elsia Herrera and Rene Edwards, El Campo’s Natalia Terrell and Aubree Matthews, Cuero’s Wynter Taylor and Kiondra Hargrove, Gonzales’ Chelsea Hastings and Kayley Martinez, Palacios’ Megan Ramirez, Edna’s Lexi Reyes, Yoakum’s Joanna Moreno, Industrial’s Lexi Snedecor, Shiner St. Paul’s Grace Irvin and Faith Academy’s Nelissa Rosales and Talia Vasquez.
