US Capitol on lockdown

Reports of gunfire in the area

WASHINGTON (AP)  – Police locked down the U.S Capitol on Friday afternoon after a report of gunshots in the area.

U.S Capitol Police say all Capitol buildings are being locked down “due to an external security threat”.

Law enforcement is telling all staff members to not enter or exit the buildings but are allowed to walk within the building as long as they stay away from windows.

Two Capitol Police officers were injured after a vehicle rammed into a barricade at the U.S Capitol.

A suspect is in custody and the complex is locked down at this time.
