Upper Level High Pressure Increasing Temps and Trapping Humidity; Any Rain?

A dome of upper level high pressure continues to build across the southern U.S. including the Crossroads, and its presence is gradually turning South Texas into s steam room. Heat Advisories posted this afternoon between Victoria and Houston may be expanded area-wide on Friday. Isolated showers managed to appear this afternoon in the heat advisory area, but offered little relief and unlikely to reappear tomorrow. Instead, look for hot and humid but rain-less conditions through the weekend. A weak cold front moving through the area next Tuesday offers scattered showers and thunderstorms, but only a degree or two of cooling. Meanwhile, a tropical wave 700 miles east of the Windward Islands may gain organization and is being watched as it moves westward.
