Update: Woman suspect shot in stomach area following burglary attempt
Three teens and woman accused in burglary that resulted in shooting
VICTORIA, Texas- Police have detained Miguel Acosta, 17, in a burglary attempt early Tuesday morning. Acosta is charged with burglary, engaging in organized criminal activity, and deadly conduct. A 14-year-old suspect also involved was wanted on a prior burglary. He was taken to the Victoria County Juvenile Detention Center. Police said charges are pending for the other suspects including a 31-year-old woman who was shot in the incident and another juvenile.
The woman suspect shot was hit in the stomach area. She showed up at an area hospital in a private vehicle after the incident.
Investigators said the group of four suspects tried to break a window at an apartment home. They tried to enter the apartment to get some property and fight with the residents following a previous altercation. A 34-year-old woman in the apartment home fired a weapon at the suspects. The suspects returned fire but no one was hurt.
Police found the vehicle the suspects took off in in the 3400 block of Cedar St.
