UPDATE: Wharton officials take two alleged subjects into custody following high school stabbing

Two victims were life flighted to Houston for treatment

WHARTON, Texas – On Wednesday, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Wharton ISD police received reports of multiple stabbings at Wharton High School.

Wharton ISD Police, along with the Wharton Police Department and the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene. Officers and deputies located two alleged subjects and quickly took them into custody. They also located two victims, who were both alert and conscious, and life flighted them to Houston for treatment.

According to the Wharton Police Department, the scene is secure, and Wharton ISD has deferred the ongoing investigation to Wharton PD. At this time, officials believe the alleged offense was student-driven and not a result of anyone gaining access to the school from outside.

The Wharton Police Department also confirmed this is an ongoing investigation and updates will be provided as they become available.

UPDATE: Three people were arrested. 17-year-old Leroy Scarlett and Trace Alvarado face assault charges while 17-year-old Jordi Vasquez was charged with tampering with evidence.
