UPDATE: Train derailment cleanup process begins
The process will last approximately two days, weather permitting
VICTORIA, Texas – The cleanup process has started in Shiner from last Friday night’s train derailment.
Sixth Street from Avenue C to Avenue G will continue to have intermittent closures due to heavy equipment and the removal of debris for the duration of the cleanup event, weather permitting.
Officials urge people to use caution around the work area. They also ask pedestrians to stay on sidewalks downtown. Seventeen Union Pacific rail cars will be derailed in Shiner, causing detours in and around the Shiner area for two days.
