UPDATE: Suspect involved in hit-and-run arrested and charged

Here are the details of the accident that occurred on Wednesday

VICTORIA, Texas – Law enforcement arrest and charge the suspect involved in a hit-and-run on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, at approximately 4:25 p.m., Victoria Police Department officers responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 800 block of E. Rio Grande Street.

A green scooter, operated by 40-year-old Isabel Ruiz, stopped facing westbound in the center turn lane. Ruiz planned to turn south onto Goldman St. when a red vehicle, operated by Samuel Aguilar, jumped the median surrounding the turn lanes and struck the scooter. Aguilar was traveling eastbound in the center turn lane when he jumped the median.

Aguilar, 17, did not stop after striking the scooter. He continued to travel to a residence in the 1600 block of E. Guadalupe Street.

Officers located Aguilar, and after the initial investigation, officials arrested and charged him with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Injury and Tampering with Evidence. They then transported Aguilar to the Victoria County Jail.

Officials also transported Ruiz to an area hospital for evaluation. She is in stable condition.
