Update: Suspect arrested after wreck causes downed power line and outage
VICTORIA, Texas — Update 2/28/19
Victoria Police Department arrested a Baytown, Texas, resident for driving while intoxicated after crashing his car into a power line causing an outage.
At 1:04 Wednesday morning VPD responded to a motor vehicle crash at 1800 Odem St. When officers arrived on scene they found that a 2015 Ford F-250 had struck a parked vehicle, a chain link fence, and an electrical pole before coming to a rest against a tree.
The driver is identified as 25-year-old Victor Gonzalez.
A power outage occured due to the electrical wires being damaged. A representative from AEP says crews repaired the lines and restored power to that area by 8:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported. Gonzalez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and transported to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
According to VPD a multi-vehicle wreck overnight near Odem St. caused a power line to fall, as well as a power outage in the surrounding area. No injuries were reported, however, VPD confirms one man was taken into custody. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
