Update: Johnny Durham officially indicted on Murder charges
Update 8/1/18: Nearly three months after Johnny Durham ran over Lawrence Christ in a car show parking lot, killing Christ, Durham has officially been indicted by a grand jury.
Durham stands accused of running over Lawrence Christ in the Citizens Medical Center parking lot after Christ attempted to stop Durham from speeding in the parking lot. Johnny Durham had entered the parking lot driving erratically in his gold colored 2001 Buick LeSabre. Several persons volunteering at the car show asked Durham to slow down, including Christ. Witnesses say Durham turned the wheels towards Christ and accelerated his vehicle causing the vehicle to run over Christ. Durham continued to speed through the parking lot before striking two vehicles and coming to rest, where he was arrested by off-duty officers.
Durham was Indicted on a Felony 1 count of Murder in the First Degree. Durham was previously arrested in 1999, 2007 and 2011. Durham has been held at the Victoria County Jail on a $1.25 million bond.
Durham will be arraigned on August 10th and will enter his official plea on September 7th. If Durham pleads not guilty, his trial will begin on November 28th, barring any setbacks.

Update 5/3/18: According to court documents, Johnny Durham, the man accused of killing Lawrence Christ during a car show April 28th, is being held on a total of $1.25 million bond. Durham has been charged with Murder ($500,000 bond), Intoxication Manslaughter W/ Vehicle ($250,000 bond), Manslaughter ($250,000 bond), and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon ($250,000 bond). Durham refused a court-appointed counsel during his Magistrate Arraignment.
According to the official complaint filed by the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, Durham had driven erratically through the Citizen’s Medical Center parking lot, where the car show was held. When Christ attempted to stop the car, Durham turned the wheels of his vehicle towards Christ and accelerated, running Christ over. Christ suffered a dismembered face, broken jaw, broken wrist, broken legs and broken hips. Christ later died at Citizens at 12:35 PM.
The off-duty officer who held Durham before local law enforcement arrived described his condition as he was detained. Trooper Stephen Pierce observed Durham was combative, profane and had quick mood swings. Durham was unable to walk and was speaking incoherently as he was arrested.

Original Story: 4/30/18
On Saturday, 04/28/2018, approximately 10:09 AM, Victoria Police Department officers responded to a car show in the parking lot of 2710 Hospital Dr., Citizen’s Medical Center, in response to an unknown male being struck by a vehicle.
Investigation revealed that 37 year old Johnny Durham of Victoria had entered the parking lot driving erratically in his gold colored 2001 Buick LeSabre. Several persons volunteering at the car show asked Durham to slow down; one of them, 65 year old Lawrence Christ of Goliad. Witnesses say Durham turned the wheels towards Christ and accelerated his vehicle causing the vehicle to run over Christ. Durham continued to speed through the parking lot before striking two vehicles and coming to rest.
An off-duty Texas DPS Trooper was attending the show and detained Durham until VPD arrived.
Christ was transported to Citizen’s Medical Center by the Victoria Fire Department. Christ succumbed to his injuries at 12:35 PM.
Durham was also transported to Citizen’s Medical Center to be medically cleared for incarceration before being taken to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
