UPDATE: 3 suspects taken into custody for alleged attack at Wharton High School

Wharton ISD is providing support services and enhanced police presence for students and staff

WHARTON, Texas – On Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m., the Wharton Police Department provided an update related to the ongoing investigation of the Wharton High School stabbing incident. According to a Facebook post by Wharton PD, multiple subjects allegedly attacked a single individual in the cafeteria area of Wharton High School.

Through further investigation, authorities took three subjects into custody with additional arrests expected.

The following three individuals are now in custody:

  • Leroy Scarlett, 17, for Class A Assault
  • Trace Alvarado, 17, for Class A Assault
  • Jordi Vasquez, 17, for Tampering with Evidence

Wharton ISD also stated in a Facebook post on Wednesday that support is available for students and staff. Counselors will be on both Wharton Junior High and Wharton High School campuses on Thursday and Friday.

The District also also have enhanced police presence for the remainder of the week at both campuses.
