Upcoming traffic changes on Mockingbird and Navarro
VICTORIA, Texas — A project to relocate water and sanitary sewer lines along Navarro will result in significant traffic impacts in coming months, according to the City of Victoria Engineering Department.
Contactors will begin the project on Thursday, May 30. For two days, the initial work will result in Mockingbird being reduced to westbound traffic only between Gemini Court and Lilac Lane.
Eastbound through-traffic will be blocked at Gemini Court. Navarro will remain open; however, eastbound turns will be blocked. Normal traffic flow will resume Friday evening.
The actual construction phase of the utility relocation project will begin on Wednesday June 5.
At that time motorists can expect intermittent closures of the intersection of Mockingbird and Navarro and lane reductions along Navarro northward to Country Club Drive.
The replacement/relocation of the water lines and sanitary sewer lines is in anticipation of TxDOT’s future repaving of Navarro Street.
All businesses in the construction zone will remain open and accessible, and the public is encouraged to support businesses in the work zone. Through-traffic can avoid delays in the work zone by seeking alternate routes.
This construction is part of the $993,270 Navarro Street Utility Improvements Project (Mockingbird Lane to Country Club Drive). The contractor is J&R Contracting Services, Inc. of Victoria, Texas.
