Undocumented immigrants inside a U-Haul in Refugio

Refugio VFD Chief Ronnie Williams said they were found inside a U-Haul Monday night.

Chief Ronnie Williams of the Refugio Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that more than 30 undocumented immigrants were found inside a U-Haul truck Monday night in Refugio.

The U-Haul truck was stopped north of Refugio on Highway 77.

According to a social media post by Refugio VFD, undocumented immigrants were being transported and suffered from dehydration.

No fatalities were reported.

The Goliad County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on social media that they too were called to the scene.

Refugio VFD confirmed on social the agencies that responded were Refugio fire, Refugio EMS, Victoria fire/EMS, Goliad EMS, Calhoun EMS, Refugio County SO, DPS, Victoria County SO, Texas Department of Emergency management, and Corpus Christi Fire Department.
