Unattended 1 year-old dies in Yoakum
YOAKUM, Texas — A 1-year-old child died in Yoakum on Sunday, December 8 th and the mother Cheyenne King was arrested at the hospital for not attending to the child.
The Yoakum Police received a call of an unresponsive child. The mother, Cheyenne King, was arrested for leaving the child unattended in a separate room of the house.
“Around 3:51 p.m. in the afternoon we received a 911 call of an unresponsive child on the 500 block of West Gonzales. Officers and EMS responded. We did find a female doing CPR on a child in the front yard. The child was taken to Yoakum Community Hospital, where the child was pronounced deceased” said, Karl Vanslooten, Yoakum Police Chief.
The Justice of the Peace Hall ordered an autopsy report and it was completed on Monday, December 9 th . The results will take up to seven to ten days to return. King has been released on a PR bond but the case is still under investigation.
