UHV Women’s Soccer Starts Conference Tourney
Jaguars Head To New Mexico
Victoria, Texas —
UHV women’s soccer’s last regular season game ended up causing problems for its first conference tournament game.
A 4-1 loss by the UHV women to Our Lady Of The Lake last Saturday at the Cage dropped the Jaguars from second to sixth place in the conference standings, and they lost a chance for a first round tournament bye in the process. Two Jaguar women told me how tough that loss was for their team.
Said defender Hayden Janner, “It was tough knowing that we’d lost and we’d lost our chance at a bye week. But everything happens for a reason and now that it’s done it’s done, there’s nothing we can do. We just have to work really hard this week to win this game and get into that tournament.”
Said midfielder Nisa Ollivierre, “It was very disappointing. But it humbled us in a way. It makes us want to go harder, fight harder and get in that tournament.”
UHV women’s soccer’s Red River Conference quarterfinals playoff will be against the University Of The Southwest.
iI will be Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in Hobbs, New Mexico. The winner advances to the conference tourney semifinals a week from Thursday at A&M-Texarkana.
