UHV Women’s Golf Takes Fourth In Laredo

UHV women’s golf finished in fourth place at the Texas A&M-International Jack Brown Memorial Golf Tournament on Tuesday.

As the final round scores rose at Laredo Country Club, Texas A&M-International maintained its lead to capture first place with a two day 629 (308-321), while Texas A&M-Kingsville moved up one spot to take second with a 655 (325-330). Houston St. Thomas fell one spot to third with a 656 (313-343), while the Jaguars posted a 339-362-701.

UHV’s Shelbi Vincent finished tied for fifth in the Jaguars’ first spring event shooting a 76-80-156. Vincent was followed by Reid Whaley who posted an 85-92-177, Viviana Yzquierdo an 85-94-179 and Jo Ellen Canales a 92-96-189.

TAMUI’s Rachel Yu strolled to the individual title with a seven shot margin posting rounds of 71-77-148. Three players, Katy Colson (73-82) and Nicki Oesch (76-79) of St. Thomas and Reanna De La Cruz (77-78) of A&M-Kingsville tied for second at 155.

The Jaguars will return to action Feb. 18-20 when they host the annual Claud Jacobs Collegiate Invitational at The Club at Colony Creek.
