Three Jaguars In Top 25

Kelly Swanson, Leah Lerma and Mary Kate Krueger each posted rounds of 84 Monday as the University of Houston-Victoria women’s golf team stood in sixth place after the opening round of the Texas A&M-International Jack Brown Memorial at Max Mandel Municipal Golf Course.

Dallas Baptist had all five players in at under par and in the top five spots to open up a 36-shot lead over UT-Tyler. DBU came in a 275, while UT-Tyler finished a 311.

Texas A&M-Kingsville is in third at 323, followed by Lubbock Christian at 332 and A&M-International at 339, six shots better than UHV. UT-Permian Basin is in seventh at 357 with Houston S. Thomas following at 361.

Swanson, Lerma and Krueger are tied for 21st place and are followed by teammates Jocelyn Villafranca (93) and Victoria Garcia (97).

DBU’s Faith De La Garza is the individual leader at 5-under par 67, while her teammates Ann Parmerter and Hanna Harrison follow at 69.

The University of Houston-Victoria women’s golf team cut three shots off their opening round score but remain in sixth place after the first day of the Texas A&M-International Jack Brown Memorial at Max Mandel Municipal Golf Course.

Kelly Swanson is tied for 14th place after posting rounds of 84-81-165 to lead the Jaguars, while Leah Lerma is four shots back of her teammate at 84-85-169. Mary Kate Krueger added an 4-87-171 for the Jaguars and was followed by Jocelyn Villafranca (93-89-182) and Victoria Garcia (97-99-196).

Dallas Baptist had four of their five players in at under par and in the top five spots to open up a 62-shot lead over UT-Tyler. DBU came in a 275-283-558, while UT-Tyler finished a 311-309-620.

Texas A&M-Kingsville is in third at 323-328-651, followed by Lubbock Christian (332-331-663) and A&M-International (339-324-663). UT-Permian Basin is in seventh at 357-337-694 with Houston S. Thomas following at 361-343-704.

DBU’s Hanna Harrison holds the individual lead at 7-under par after rounds of 69-68-137. Her teammate Faith De La Garza, the first round lead, follows at 5-under 139 after rounds of 67-72.

The final round tees off Tuesday morning.
