UHV women finish third at Fall Classic
University of Houston-Victoria freshman Jenna Alvarado (FR/Mansfield, TX) playing in her first collegiate tournament finished third Tuesday at the 2019 UHV Fall Classic.
Alvarado posted an opening round 77 on Monday and took advantage when a second weather delay forced the cancellation of the final round on Tuesday forcing the scores to revert back to Monday’s finish.
Tyler Junior College’s Odette Booysen captured individual honors with a 74, while her teammate Raelynn Hardgrove finished second with a 75.
Tyler also claimed the team title posting an opening score of 309, while Houston St. Thomas took second at 321 and UHV was third with a 329.
Behind Alvarado for UHV, Mia Lerma (FR/Mission, TX) tied for seventh with an 81, while Mary Kate Krueger (SR/Cuero, TX) posted an 84, Jocelyn Villafranca (JR/Cuero, TX) an 87 and Madeline Mattocks (SO/Victoria, TX) a 92. Victoria Garcia (JR/Brownsville, TX), playing as a medalist, shot an 86.
The Jaguars will return to action on Oct. 14-15, at the Trinity Alamo City Classic in San Antonio.
