UHV to enter Phase 5 of their reopening plan, returning to normal operations in August

Here is what you need to know about the plan to resume normal operations

VICTORIA, Texas – On Aug. 2, the University of Houston-Victoria will return to normal operations in preparaion for the fall semester.

The university will move from Phase 4 to Phase 5, which is the final phase in its Phased Reopening Plan. Phase 5 signifies that the university is returning to pre-COVID normal operations and will offer face-to-face classes in addition to the hybrid and online classes that were offered prior to the pandemic.

“UHV is encouraged by the decreasing number of cases in the Victoria and Katy communities,” UHV President Bob Glenn said. “We are excited to welcome everyone back to campus while we continue to take steps to ensure that everyone remains safe.”

As part of the plan to return to normal operations, all UHV faculty and staff will return to campus. During Phase 4, up to 70 percent of faculty and staff returned to campus. Even though operations will return to normal, there will still be an increased cleaning of the campus, and the university encourages people to keep practicing health-conscious actions, such as social distancing, masks and hand washing.

Additionally, UHV will be open to the public again, including the university’s library. UHV will begin hosting events on campus, as well, including events held by university departments and student organizations.

On Aug, 23, the fall 2021 semester will begin, and students will be moving in on campus on Aug. 19. As each week passes, the university’s administrators will continue to evaluate UHV’s reopening phase. Any changes will be announced as soon as possible, and students will be notified through their UHV email accounts. Information will also be updated on the university’s COVID-19 website.
