UHV Student-Athletes Earn Academic Honors

31 Jaguars Make Fall Dean's List

University of Houston-Victoria student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom as 31 Jaguars have been named to the 2019 Fall President’s and Dean’s List announced this week.

Six student-athletes were named to the President’s List, while another 25 earned recognition on the Dean’s List.

Earning recognition on the President’s List were softball players Emily Flores and Marisa Mendoza, along with baseball players Zechariah Vela and Richard Isom. Also named to the President’s List were soccer player Freja Magnussen and golfer Will Paton. All six were also named to the Dean’s List.

Mendoza, Magnussen and Vela were named to the President’s List from the School of Arts and Science, while Flores and Isom were named from the School of Education, Health Professions and Human Development. Paton was recognized in the School of Business.

Baseball lead the way with eight players earning the academic honors, while soccer and softball each had seven representatives and golf six.

Receiving recognition to the Dean’s List from the School of Arts and Sciences were Hayden Janner, James Rollins, Jenna Alvarado, Jacob Tyrrell, Jacquelyn Clendening, Benjamin Lake, Consuelo Luna and Maria Grogan.

Named to the Dean’s List from the School of Business were Andrew Loudermilk, Angelica Davidson, Brandon Banda, Erik Faeltstroem, Jose Jimenez, Mia Lerma, Alex Pugh, Max Schliesing and Connagh Wilks.

Athletes named to the Dean’s List from the School of Education, Health Professions and Human Development were Hayden Leopold, Abigail Torres, Tyler Price, Victoria Smith, Daphne Henze, Kelsey Tidrick and Lauren Caka.

Former softball player Alyssa Adames, who is wrapping up her educational study’s also earned recognition of the President’s List from the School of Business.

The President’s List honors undergraduates who earn a 4.0 grade-point average on all work completed during the fall semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List undergraduates must earn at least a 3.5 GPA.
