UHV Sports Combining Golf Tourney & Fund-Raiser
Claud Jacobs Tourney Coming In February
Victoria, Texas — A major change in the UHV Claud Jacobs golf tourney.
The University of Houston-Victoria athletics department will be combining its two biggest fund-raising events into one event come this February.
The Jaguars made the announcement Thursday during the seventh annual UHV Claud Jacobs Invitational Golf Tournament kickoff luncheon at The Club at Colony Creek. UHV will be combining the golf tournament with the annual Night for the Jaguars to form one exciting weekend for UHV fans and supporters.
The new event will be call – A Weekend for the Jaguars.
“We are not changing a thing with either event just combining them into one big event and we think it will be something special for our fans and supporters,” said UHV athletics director Ashley Walyuchow in making the announcement Thursday.
The Night for the Jaguars event will follow the college-am portion of the annual golf tournament on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Schroeder Hall with the entertainment provided by the Scott Taylor Band.
The weekend begins with the college am that starts with the men teeing off at 11 a.m. at Victoria Country Club. The women’s college am will tee off at 11:30 a.m. at The Club at Colony Creek. The Night for the Jaguars dinner, auction and dance will follow later that evening at Schroeder Hall.
The Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate tees off on Sunday, Feb. 17, with the men playing 36 holes at VCC, while the women play an 18-hole opening round at Colony Creek. The final round is schedule for Monday, Feb. 18.
Currently eight men’s and eight women’s teams have committed to the collegiate golf tournament.
Competing along with UHV on the men’s side will be Texas Wesleyan, Houston St. Thomas, Our Lady of the Lake, University of the Southwest, Tyler Junior College, defending champion McLennan Community College and Jacksonville College.
On the women’s side, joining UHV will be Southwestern University, defending champion Texas Wesleyan, Houston St. Thomas, University of the Southwest, Tyler JC, Ranger College and Jacksonville College.
