Jaguars softball team splits doubleheader with TAMUT Eagles
VICTORIA,Texas– The UHV Jaguars softball team hosted a doubleheader against Texas A&M-Texarkana.
The first game was a wild one. It was a pitchers duel and it went into extra innings with the same pitchers on the mound.
Jaguars starting pitcher threw a complete shut out game allowing just three hits, Eagles pitcher Dorrie Cameron pitched 10 two-third innings where she didn’t allow a run until the bottom of the 11th inning. UHV’s Lauren Caka bunted and reached on a base hit, Brianna Leon advanced to third, Caka advanced to second on the throw. Zoe Miranda hit a sacrifice fly to right allowing Leon to score.
Game two looked like it was going to be another shut out for both pitchers as Jaguars Michelle Kristoff and Eagles Anna Westburry didn’t allow a run through four innings. However UHV would break that and score two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Jaguars would hang on to that lead until the sixth inning, when the Eagles would score three of their own runs and add one more in the seventh, defeating the Jaguars in game two of the doubleheader 4-2.
