UHV softball sweeps doubleheader against Texas Lutheran
SEGUIN, Texas — The Jaguars’ two-week layoff clearly didn’t get to them.
UHV softball swept NCAA D-III opponent Texas Lutheran in a doubleheader Saturday, improving to 4-2 on the young season. The Jags came out on top, 1-0, in a game one pitchers’ duel before exploding for nine runs in the nightcap.
Senior Jamison Dumont had the big blow for UHV in the first contest, homering in the fourth inning to put the game’s sole run on the board. In game two, the Jaguars and Bulldogs went back and forth in a game that required extra innings. In the 10th, Dumont and fellow senior Michelle Revels set the table with a pair of one-out singles before being driven in by an Ashley Reyna single and Angelica Davidson groundout.
The Jaguars will return to action next week when they play in the Gulf Shores Tournament. UHV will take on No. 22 Southeastern University on March 1.
