UHV Softball Signs Beeville Standout
Second Jaguar Softball Signee For 2020
Victoria, Texas — UHV softball signs a Corpus Christi area high school standout.
University of Houston-Victoria softball coach Lindsey Ortiz has announced the signing Jessalyn Burkett to the 2020 UHV softball signing class.
Burkett, a senior at Beeville A.C. Jones High School, is a multi-time all-state and all-district selection and was the Lady Trojans’ lone selection to the UIL all-state tournament team last year. She has been a key feature in helping the Lady Trojans reach the Class 4A state tournament the last two seasons.
Last season the second baseman compiled a .415 batting average with a .451 on-base percentage and a .525 slugging percentage while scoring 26 runs and driving in 24.
Burkett is an honor student and currently ranks in the top-10 percent of her class and plans to study kinesiology while attending UHV.
“Whenever I went on my visit, they were just so welcoming and they had everything that I want,” said Burkett in signing with the Jaguars.
Burkett is the second player to sign with the Jaguars for the 2020 signing class.
