UHV Softball Players Earn National Honors 5-29
Five Jaguars Get Academic Recognition
Victoria, Texas — National academic honors for five UHV softball players Wednesday.
Five members of the University of Houston-Victoria softball team were among the 510 women’s softball student-athletes named 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Softball Scholar Athletes on Wednesday.
Earning the honor for the second straight year are seniors Michelle Revels of Corpus Christi and Jordan Hoefling of Victoria, while senior Jamison Dumont of Pleasanton, and juniors Emily Flores of Houston and Angelica Davidson of Portland receive the honor for the first time.
The five helped guide the Jaguars to a 33-12 record and their second straight appearance in the NAIA National Championships Opening Round Tournament. The Jaguars also won their second Red River Athletic Conference regular season title.
In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
Twenty-four different UHV softball players have be recognized with the Daktronics-NAIA scholar award since 2009.
