UHV Softball Player Earns Conference Honor
A UHV softball senior gets a conference honor Wednesday. University of Houston-Victoria senior Savannah Crittenden carried a big bat for the Jaguars last week in a 3-1 series sweep over Huston-Tillotson in the Red River Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Crittenden compiled a .714 batting average and drove in six runs and for her play has been named the RRAC Softball Player of the Week for the Week of Feb. 13-19.
Crittenden went 10-for-14 at the plate with four doubles and a home run as compiled a 1.214 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage in the series. She was also 6-for-6 in stolen base and scored five runs.
She lost her only decision in the circle, a 1-0 decision in Game 2 of the series, as she gave up seven hits and two walks, while striking out five.
In the field, she was perfect in 32 chances as she recorded 28 putouts and four assists.
