UHV Softball Adds Pitcher
UHV softball coach Lindsey Ortiz has announced the signing of Vernon College pitcher Peyton Branham to a letter of intent to play softball for the Jaguars in 2018.
Branham has played the last two years for the Vernon College Chaparrals after a four-year stellar high school career at Cypress Falls High School.
Branham has been named the Chaparrals’ pitcher for the year for the past two seasons and earned second team all-conference honors last year in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. She also was recognized as the Region 5 pitcher of the week.
During her high school career at Cypress Falls, she earned second team all-district honors her freshman year and was first team all-district her sophomore and senior seasons.
She also earned academic all-district honors while attending Cypress Falls and made the Vernon College Dean’s list.
“I love the coaches, the campus, and how much closer it is to home compared to my previous college in Vernon,” said Branham in making her commitment. “It’s also cool to follow in my cousin’s (Cirby Ryan Vest) footsteps, as she is a Jaguar alumnus. I can’t wait to further my softball career as a UHV Jaguar.”
Vest played on the Jaguars’ first-ever softball team in 2008.
