UHV soccer season postponed to Spring 2021

VICTORIA,Texas- The UHV soccer team will have their season begin in Spring 2021 instead of the usual Fall.

The Red River Athletic Conference decided to move the fall sports to the Spring session for the safety of students on campus. For UHV soccer, instead of having their non-competitive season start in spring they will have it in the fall until their actual season comes around early 2021. UHV is planning on starting practice the first week of September. Coach Adrian Rigby is waiting to hear back from the NAIA to see what their schedule would look like.

“It’s going to be different, it’s going to be different for the players. We have a good group of core players that are coming back. We got some very good additions, we’ve got a bigger roster this year as well,” said Rigby.

Coach Rigby said they are taking precautions when fall workouts come along. Players and staff understand the importance of being cautious and doing all that needs to be done to protect themselves and all those around.

“When you’re talking to an 18-year old kid through 20-something-year-old kid, for them, soccer is their world. And sometimes it’s hard to see the bigger picture. But we’ve got a smart group of kids and we’re excited to work with them,” continued Rigby.

Winning the Red River Conference last year, allows UHV to have a good recruiting year.
