UHV Signs Former East Girls Golfer

Mattocks Joins Jaguars

A former East girls golfer joins the UHV team.

The University of Houston-Victoria women’s golf coach Christi Cano today announced the signing of Victoria’s Madeline Mattocks to the Jaguars’ women’s golf team.

Mattocks, a 2018 graduate of Victoria East High School, spent last season as a member of the University of Arkansas-Monticello golf team, an NCAA Division II program.

While at UAM, Mattocks compiled an 88.33 scoring average in seven tournaments. Her best finish was at the Don Morris Invitational where she tied for 13th with a score of 85-88-173.

She was a member of the Victoria East girl’s golf team as well as the Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf Tour and the Texas Junior Golf Tour. She was also a member of the National Honor Society while in high school.

“I wanted to stay closer to home to pursue my major at the University of Houston-Victoria,” said Mattocks in making her commitment.

The sophomore plans to study business- hotel management, while attending UHV.
