UHV Presents Their First Honorary Doctorate

“He’s extremely happy tonight because he was honored with the honorary doctorate degree.” Saturday marks a big day for University of Houston Victoria. Chinese executive, Bingxin Wu, received an honorary doctorate of humane letters. This is the first time UHV has presented an honorary doctorate. “It’s great recognition for his both his academic work as well as his actual business work,” says Wu’s grand daughter, also his translator. Chairman Wu has achieved tremendous success as a business entrepreneur. After creating a pharmaceutical company, he soon became one of the 50 wealthiest businessmen in China. In 2013, Wu and his wife pledged $600,000 to the UHV school of business administration. Their gift was the largest the school has received to date, and has opened up many opportunities for students.
“The fact that he supports UHV, supports our business program, takes our students to china, and gives them an opportunity to learn about international business and economics, is what makes him pretty special to us,” says UHV President Vic Morgan Wu is honored to be able to be a part of the community, and to share this moment with his loved ones. “He’s very happy that most of his family is able to join him on this special occasion, and that his friends are here to share this very special moment,” says Wu’s Granddaughter, Lisa.
