UHV opens new student union
VICTORIA, Texas — University of Houston Victoria opened their new University Commons building with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 28th, 2019.
Hundreds of faculty, staff, students, and community leaders gathered in the newly opened building to celebrate the opening of the new library and student center.
“This is where they come to have important conversations. This is where they come to be with their friends, grab a bite to eat, play, watch TV. This is a very important aspect of being a whole person,” Dr. Bob Glenn, the President of the University of Houston Victoria said.
This center currently features a two-story library, meeting rooms and study spaces, offices, and even a counseling center. Eventually, this building will also house a food court with a Chick-fil-A and a coffee bar, and the Jag Station Bookstore. These additions will be completed in totality by Fall 2020.
Dr. Glenn also wants everyone to know this building is open to the public, and says the community is welcome in the new University Commons.
