UHV Men’s, Women’s Golf In Second Place In Tyler
Five Jaguar Women In Top 11
Tyler, Texas — UHV men’s and women’s golf, off to a fast start Monday in Tyler.
With all five team members finishing in the top-11 after the first round, the University of Houston-Victoria women’s golf team finds itself in second place after the opening round of the Tyler Junior College Fall Classic.
The Jaguars posted a team score 328 and are 15 shots back of host Tyler JC who is in at 313. Blinn College is third at 341 at the Pine Springs Golf Club.
Jenna Alvarado is in a three-way tie for fourth with an 80, while Mary Kate Krueger and Jocelyn Villafranca share eighth at 82. Mia Lerma stands in 10th place with an 84, while Victoria Garcia is 11th with an 85.
Terry Strickland posted a 1-under par 71 Monday to help guide the University of Houston-Victoria men’s golf team to a second place tie after the opening round of the Tyler Junior College Fall Classic at Pine Spring Golf Club.
The Jaguars carded a team score 290 and share second place with Blinn College, while McLennan Community College holds a 13-shot lead at 277. University of the Southwest and Tyler JC share fourth at 295.
Strickland is in fifth place five shots behind the individual leader, Caden Honea of McLennan, who is in with a 6-under par 66.
Three Jaguars are tied for 10th place at 73 and include Ryan Morant, Benjamin Lake and Wil Paton, while Jacob Flores in is with a 75.
The final round tees off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
Tyler’s Raelyn Hardgrave holds the individual lead with a 74, while Blinn’s Madison Davis is a shot back at 75. Tyler’s Kaitlyn Charles is in third with a 78.
Final round play is Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
