Alvarez Comes From Texas Wesleyan

UHV men’s soccer adds a transfer player from Texas Wesleyan.

University of Houston-Victoria soccer coach Adrian Rigby today announced the addition of attacking midfielder Diego Alvarez (NA) to the men’s soccer team for the 2019 season.

Alvarez is a transfer from Texas Wesleyan University where he tallied five goals and was named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the Rams last season. In 14 games last season, he put up 20 shots, including 11 shots on goal, and had two game-winning goals,

A 2016 graduate of Katy Cinco Ranch High School, he played two seasons for Jacksonville College where he appeared in eight games. In high school, his team reached the state finals in 2015 and state semifinals in 2016.

“I believe UHV will be the place where I achieve my goals,” said Alvarez in committing to UHV. “The team has great stats and I will do everything to improve on them.”

Rigby feels Alvarez will be a perfect fit for his team.

“Diego joins us as a transfer with tons of experience,” said Rigby. “Diego has a knack for the scoring key goals and always looks to get his teammates involved in play. His style of play will fit in perfectly here and we are looking forward to watching him play this fall.”

Alvarez plans to study Spanish while attending UHV.
