UHV Men’s Golf Spring Schedule Released

Jaguars Start Play Next Month Here

UHV men’s golf will have a busy spring schedule, one they hope ends with their first-ever trip to the NAIA National Championships in May.

Head coach Christi Cano today announced her spring schedule which tees off on Feb. 16-18 when the Jaguars host the annual Claud Jacob Intercollegiate Invitational.

The Jaguars then return the next week to defend their title at the Sterling College South Padre Intercollegiate at South Padre Island.

The Jaguars will play two events in March, the first at the Schreiner Spring Shootout in Kerrville on March 10-12. They will then finish the month preparing for the conference tournament when they take part in the Sam Houston State Bearkat Invitational in Conroe on March 31-April 2.

The Jaguars will then be out to claim their first berth to the NAIA National Championships when they compete in the Red River Athletic Conference/A.i.i Men’s Golf Championships in San Antonio on April 28-30 at TPC San Antonio. The tournament winner receives an automatic berth to the national tournament.

The Jaguars are also schedule to once again defend their title at the PGA Minority Champion on May 8-13 in Post St. Lucie, Fla., with the NAIA National Championships set for May 21-24 in Mesa, Ariz.

During the fall, the Jaguars competed in three tournaments and won the weather-shortened Trinity Alamo Classic.

Competing for the Jaguars in the spring will be seniors Juan David Coy and Adrian Saenz, along with juniors Terry Strickland, James Rollins and Corey Rodriguez. Also vying for spots on the team will be sophomores Aaron Martinez, Ben Lake and Joey Hunter, along with freshmen Ryan Morant and Jacob Flores.
