Coming off a solid performance this week, that includes wins over three nationally ranked teams, the University of Houston-Victoria men’s golf team moved up 10 spots to No. 15 on Wednesday in the weekly Golfstat NAIA rankings.

The Jaguars finished fourth Tuesday at the San Antonio Shoot-Out that included a 16-team field with six NAIA nationally ranked teams in the field.


The Jaguars, receiving votes in the NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches’ Top 25 preseason poll, posted a 54-hole total 937 to finish ahead of No. 14 Truett-McConnell, No. 19 Grand View and No. 23 Johnson & Wales (Fla.).


UHV was just two shots off the pace of No. 15 Morningside College, and eight off the pace of No. 8 Texas Wesleyan. Wayland Baptist, ranked No. 10, dominated the field finishing with an 893, 36 shots ahead of runner-up TWU.


The Jaguars are the second-best ranked team in the Association of Independent Institutions Conference, trailing only Victoria BC which is ranked No. 5 in Golfstat.


The Jaguars have just two NCAA Division I tournaments left on their spring schedule before hosting the A.i.i. Championships on April 27-28 at Victoria Country Club. UHV will play at the Prairie View A&M Invitational at Sterling Country Club on March 16-17 and the Sam Houston State Bearkat Invitational at Walden Lake Conroe Golf Course in Montgomery on April 6-7.


Individually, the Jaguars have two golfers ranked in the top 150 in the NAIA Golfstat rankings. Ryan Morant (SO/Houston, TX) is ranked No. 43, while Max Schliesing (FR/Switzerland) is ranked No. 150.
